July - Robbin Island

Following on from 'July oh July'.................

Robbin is a very interesting place due to the history of Africa and it development of what it is now.

We saw the place were they mind stone and Nelson Mandela was force to work with the other prisoners. We had a tour guide who was an ex prisoner so it was really interesting to hear his story of what life was like and how they take their names and identity, giving them numbers. De humanizing them as much as possible. Singing was one thing thet kept their spirits alive. Didn't get to see Nelson Mandela's cell as it was closed for referb!!??
The ferry takes about 45 mins and is really nice seeing the back drop of Cape town.
Carn't really tell you too much more about it as you have to go and see for yourself really.

Been out and about to different bars, meeting up with the Americans. Liz also returned so it was great to see her and let the good time roll. Most the people i have made friends with leave soon, so it will be all change again.

Great to see your pictures of Robbin Island Karen and these brings back memories for us.
We think we may have had the same guide as you judging by the picture.
