I'm on my way back to Wellington to meet my friend Sarah from Ireland, for Rugby and Paddy's day, also to hook up with another girl to watch England play cricket (if the tickets are cheap though!!) So not really busy seeing beautiful views as above for the next few days but i need to be with people which i know. Been feeling like a year is a long time and it is hard to keep going but its all worth it. If i just think how long it took me to save then i get the kick up the back side i need to keep me going. Very excited about South America and leave NZ on the 24th March!
Sorry Sarah L i could resist when the house trekking was so cheap and along this beautiful beach, i even cantered, you would be proud! I did this yesterday and the lady with me i have met a couple of times on the way round Fiona from Scotland living in the Lakes in the UK. She's cool and we had a great laugh. It was also one of my best days in NZ as the temp was just right at 4.30pm the tide was out and calm. The grass was so lush the houses, Bessy and Molly where a warm Chestnut (my fav) and it was perfect!
In Rotorua i wen to a Maori Hangi and then did traditional dancing, music, poi poi, Hacker and taught us about the culture of old and new. They also came down the river in traditional boats then showing the tattoos and explaining the meaning of them. However touristic it was it was also interesting and i did enjoy it. The top two picture are from there and the food on the Hangi was beautiful!
The Church you see in the next picture is one of the oldest things you will see in NZ and it was fascinating with all Maori carvings inside and out. You realise how to appreciate the UK for its history when you see country's with out. The next pic is one of the many beautiful views around Turanga too many to capture on film and its never the same anyway.
Not too much to report except i have decided that live, love and relationships are simple when compared to egg's. Generally the people who are reading this are good egg's.
Think time in NZ will go quick now so just going to enjoy, looking forward to the challenge of learning Spanish and I'm going to try and keep it up when i get home as it has been something i have always found hard but wanted to achieve in my life.
Happy Paddy's day to all and miss everyone, big hugs, Karen x
